1800: So Long to the Giants

Loggers and lumber barons begin searching for the mammoth pine. Stupendous quantities of white pine - up to 50 metres tall - will soon fall to saw and axe. Cut into square timbers at least 12 to 20 metres long and 30 cm across, the fallen giants will be sent down river to British cargo ships in Quebec.
