1750: Enter the Field Pine

Bushy pines with branches drooping to the ground grow in the open spaces of old campsites and plots cleared earlier by the Algonquins. Loggers and settlers will cut these trees, then use the fields and abandon them once again. Hundreds of years later field pine will stand tall again, awaiting the admiring gaze of the river's historians.
