1600: A Star is Born

About the time Samuel de Champlain lost his astrolabe near Cobden, a generation of white pine germinates following a fire in the Little Bonnechere's watershed. Trees that survive the seedling stage still have 200 years to grow before they become the towering giants coveted and cut by loggers in the 1800s.
