Sometimes we are familiar with the artifacts or remnants we excavate. We find a few eyelets for men’s or women’s footwear; a piece of strap from braces or suspenders meant to hold up pants; a fragment of belt or boot. Sometimes we just don't know. We might guess, but it would help to have a bigger piece.
